The Story of La Bonbonnière

This is not your ordinary bakery. The story began in 2016 when Valentina Lopez, a pastry chef, opened up a small shop in Venezuela. She never really had the intention for her small shop to grow into a large, well-known brand, let alone a full-time business that ships worldwide. This small shop sparked the beginning of its remarkable journey of growth.

At the start, her little shop was more of a passion project, but this soon changed into something exceptional. She became popular for her oversized, artisanal biscuits made from scratch with only the best quality ingredients and no added preservatives. They are the kind that made memories with each bite.

In 2021 Valentina moved to the United States, bringing her brand over with her to Charlotte, North Carolina. This fresh start led to a new opportunity for both her and her business. She began the continuation of her brand at local farmers’ markets, which led to something amazing. People would buy her cookies and continuously wind up right back at her shop for more. They simply couldn’t get enough from one visit alone. With this recurring, a community was formed and soon after they were known to be the “Cookie Besties”.

Later in 2025 her shop opened up the brand’s first permanent walk-in storefront in Uptown Charlotte, Latta Arcade Alley. La Bonbonnière’s system includes rotating the flavors weekly. From here the bakery’s story continues to grow far and wide, with the company shipping its freshly baked desserts across the entirety of the United States. This allows a vast majority of people to experience the magic these desserts are capable of bringing to them and their lives.

The Favorites

The community who frequents Bonbonnière has so many favorites among the available flavors.

The Classic Cookie is simple yet hides an explosion of familiarity inside. It is a chocolate chip variety with a perfect crunch in the crust. The middle is warm and soft, excellently pairing with the texture of the crust and flavor of the chocolate.

Next up is the S’mores Than That. It is a reinvention of the classic S’mores combined into a biscuit. It consists of Graham Cracker and sticky marshmallow, wrapped in a layer of Hershey’s milk chocolate with decadent chocolate chips on top.

The Cookinception is what follows. Imagine a cookie inside another cookie, that is exactly what this dessert is. Its base is packed with white and dark chocolate chips, Oreo chunks added to the dough and a layer of Hershey’s Cookies n’ Cream covers the top.

Another is the Gluten-Free Brown Butter Chocolate Chip. This dessert is packed with organic ingredients and incorporates rich browned butter notes throughout, helping to deepen the chocolate flavor. The It’s Bananas! has quite a twist. It is made with a vanilla and banana dough stuffed with semi-sweet chocolate chips and pieces of Biscoff. It is finished off with cookie butter, rounding the flavors off perfectly.

Last but definitely not least, The Assorted Cookie Box.  The box comes with a mix of 6 different varieties and flavors especially chosen by the chef in charge of the week’s lineup. The box feels like a dessert adventure, an unwrapping of a sweet mystery.

They offer multiple, wonderful flavors for you to choose from.

First up is their Classic Fudgy. This says it all in the name, it’s simple with a deep fudgy flavor and texture.

Next is their Walnuts Fudgy, with its crispy base and gooey middle, the walnuts help add a crunch and depth to the texture, giving it the perfect balance.

Another masterpiece is the Nutella-Rocher. You can imagine the delight this one offers with its layers of hazelnut goodness. It has Nutella swirled inside, with pieces of Ferrero Rocher hiding like precious gems waiting to be discovered. This one packs the perfect chocolate creaminess with some added crunch.
