Sophia is hard at work. Her deadline is close, and she is toiling away at top speed. Sophia is a baker, and she has an order for 300 cupcakes.
She woke at 3 A.M. to get started and went about the necessary preparations. There is nothing special about this order, although it is rather large. So, she begins by mixing and making the batter. As she assembles the ingredients, she realizes there is a problem. She doesn’t have enough sugar to properly make the frosting. Distraught, she calls her suppliers. However, it’s too early for them to be available.
And she must start making frosting now, or she will not have time to finish everything.
So, she runs to the 24-hour grocery store and buys what she can. When she takes stock of the amount she has, she only possesses about half of the necessary sugar. It’s still not enough.
Sophia improvises and sends her helper to get a sugar substitute. Upon her return, Sophia begins to make the frosting. The entire time she is mixing, blending, and cooking, this lack of necessary ingredients weighs heavily on her mind.
Will it taste ok? What will her customer think? How could she have let herself run low on such a vital piece of her business? Nevertheless, she pushes ahead and gets the cupcakes done.
When she tastes the frosting she has made, Sophia realizes just how vital the right ingredient is. Her frosting doesn’t have the right consistency or flavor. It’s off, just enough to tell.
But will the customers notice? That’s the big question.
Sophia’s problem is not that she lacks the proper ingredients. She lacks them in enough quantity to do what they are supposed to do. Her reputation is on the line, and she is about to discover how much a lack of something so critical can wreak havoc.
The main ingredients.
Your body is far more complex than a cupcake – or its decadent frosting. However, there is something that your body has in common with baked goods. There must be the proper amount of the correct ingredients for everything to be just right.
The body comprises multiple systems and processes that make the fastest computer system look like a typewriter. And these processes and systems require proper quantities of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Try it out for yourself. Take a chip out of a computer or the sugar out of frosting, and you will quickly see that everything has its place and purpose. Your body is no different. And you may think that missing a vital nutrient occasionally is no big deal, but over time it can take a toll.
Slowly but surely, your body will not function at its peak. You will certainly feel it, and others around you will probably notice it. Regarding minerals, four main minerals are essential to your body performing at an optimal level.
And it seems many today do not get enough of:
IRON: Iron carries oxygen throughout your body. If you don’t have enough, you may feel tired and have trouble thinking straight. It has even been suggested that an appropriate iron level could help postpartum depression and help new mothers bond with their babies.
POTASSIUM: Potassium helps regulate your blood pressure by offsetting the effects of sodium. It is found mainly in fruits and vegetables (which hardly anyone eats enough of). Nearly 98 percent of potassium in your body is located within the cells. It is essential in regulating your heartbeat and ensuring the proper function of the muscles and nerves. It is also vital for synthesizing protein and metabolizing carbohydrates.
CALCIUM: Vital for solid bones, as you have probably heard. Calcium, in addition to potassium, helps to regulate your blood pressure.
MAGNESIUM: Often overlooked and undervalued, magnesium is responsible for over 300 chemical reactions within your body. Among other things, magnesium provides energy for your cells. It is essential for your cells’ ability to communicate with one another.
Of course, if you eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein, you can maintain the perfect balance of these minerals.
Who can do that these days? With the rigors and stress of work and daily life, fewer of us can have a perfect diet. Without the proper amount of these crucial ingredients, another problem can arise. The acidification of your body.
Your body’s pH.
Your body works very hard to maintain a proper pH balance during breathing; for example, the body controls your pH level by expelling carbon dioxide. The body must maintain a pH range of 7.35 to 7.45 to survive. Healthy blood is defined as a pH of 7.4, much like 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is used to denote an average temperature.
Every system within the body is affected by a high acidity or a lower-than-normal pH. Suppose your body is low on essential minerals to help combat high acidity. In that case, it draws upon stores within your bones and other structures. Removing these stores can then negatively affect the proper functioning of these structures.
Acidosis (excess acids within the body) has proven to be a significant factor in stroke, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. What seems to be a common factor among these conditions is the inflammation caused by unbalanced pH levels.
One of the first signs of excess acidity is muscle pain, difficulty breathing, and chronic fatigue. An acidic system can also present differently in certain parts of the body, such as:
Circulatory system: Inflammation is an underlying factor in heart disease. Excess acid in your system can increase your chance of problems as cardiovascular tissues become inflamed. This makes it more difficult for blood to flow easily to and from the heart and can lead to heart failure.
Digestive system: There are definite problems within this system when you retain too much acid in your body. This is due to the pancreas failing to send signals to other organs, resulting in inflammation. This can cause nausea, bloating, and gastric reflux.
Urinary system: With a low pH (acidic), your body’s urinary system will draw alkaline materials from other sources, such as your bones and organs. It then transfers these materials into the bloodstream to combat acidity. This can lead to debilitating kidney stones.
Integumentary system: Comprised of the skin, nails, hair, and exocrine glands. Acidic conditions can cause a buildup of deposits within the skin. The resulting inflammation blocks the skin’s ability to stop infections and invading pathogens. This can lead to rashes, pimples, wounds, and lesions.
Muscular system: The body breaks down oxygen and glucose to generate energy. If your body is too acidic, these metabolic processes can be disrupted. This can cause your muscles to perform at a less-than-ideal level.
Nervous system: High acidity levels within the body can hinder the constant energy required for physical, emotional, and mental strength.
Respiratory system: Oxygen traveling to your cells can be hindered by high acidity. Without a properly functioning respiratory system and high acidity, toxic waste and mucus in the lungs could lead to asthma, bronchitis, recurrent colds, or other respiratory infections.
Skeletal system: Acidosis can cause inflammation in the joints, leading to stiffness, pain, and other arthritis-like symptoms.
How to balance your pH.
As you can see, the pH balance in your body is critical and affects every aspect of your body. However, all is not lost, and you can maintain a healthy balance by having the right ingredients in your diet.
Almost all foods high in salt and sugar are acidic. The problem is that most processed Western diets are high in sugar and salt. On the other hand, natural foods tend to be alkaline or lower in acidity.
An ideal diet seems to be 60% comprised of alkaline-forming foods (natural fruits, vegetables, and grains) and the other 40% acid-forming foods (including most meats and poultry). If you can maintain a diet like this day in and day out, your pH does not tend to be a problem.
However, as mentioned earlier, this is easier said than done. And this is where most of us fall short.
How often do you find yourself grabbing a quick meal from the fast-food joint or a snack from the gas station? Most quick, cheap food and snacks are terribly acidic and can wreak havoc upon your pH.
So, what can you do if your diet is the biggest concern, and you cannot have a properly balanced diet to control your body’s pH? Since 1994, one company has been making it simple to maintain your pH levels and keep harmful acidosis at bay.
All by making sure you have the right ingredients.

Larry Flaxman said – I’m not a huge water drinker, but when I do, I like to make sure it’s alkaline. This product is really easy to use – you just add a few drops to your water and voila! Alkaline water. I like that it’s clear and doesn’t change the taste of my water too much. It’s affordable and lasts a long time.
JC added – Recommended by my urologist and it’s the easiest way to make alkaline water. Just add the drops as noted in the instructions.
And one more fine review from a happy customer – Started using this product in early 2022, in my morning coffee. 3 drops in each cup. Noticed coffee tastes better and really helps my stomach from the acidity of the coffee. The bottle is small enough and very portable to carry in a purse for breakfasts out. Very happy.
