Once you’ve had a taste of Mr SYLTBAR brut Prosecco and learn about its benefits, you will never want to touch another bottle of sparkling wine ever again. This organic Italian Prosecco has a unique story, starting all the way back in 1915 in Friuli, Italy.
SYLTBAR comes from San Simone, a fourth-generation family-owned-and-operated winery in the northeast region of Italy. The winery was founded by the Brisotto family. It was started by great grandfather and great-grandmother, then passed to grandfather and grandmother, to father and mother, and now to children. Three siblings who nurture the family business with pride and joy: Chiara, Anna, and Antonio.
Their belief in winemaking is simple and straightforward, yet powerful.
“Wine making is an art in itself but not just any kind of art. It is an art which does not require only know how, but also loads of passion, love, sacrifice, patience, sensitivity and fantasy. It is essential to have a solid tradition and strong enological culture. This art cannot be merely learned, it is something innate. It is an emotion, and like everything that springs from the heart, it becomes a light for the mind, a scent and an enthusiasm for life through the transformation of the grapes into wine.”
For hundreds of years, the Brisotto family has rooted its winemaking in the connection between product, environment, and human affairs. San Simone is Green Project Certified; this refers to a set of actions, behaviors, and procedures that contribute to the environmental sustainability of a business, respecting the existing territorial balances. The Brisotto family has always been guided by a social responsibility to not only respect the environment, but also their community.
The wines are organic, vegan, and 100% naturally produced with absolutely no additives or preservatives. Additionally, San Simone does not use any herbicides or chemical fertilizers, and provides constant care to the vines, among practicing other sustainable methods throughout the business.
But who is this mysterious low sugar sparkling wine, Mr SYLTBAR, and how did he come to the US from Italy?
Many wine consumers assume that the name of the brand they are purchasing is also the name of the vineyard, winery or wine producers. SYLTBAR is obviously none of those things. It is a name that the owners, husband-and-wife Regina and Claus Blohm, chose for their brand because of their personal story. Over a decade ago, Mr and Mrs Blohm partnered with San Simone winery and received the exclusive rights for the Premium Prosecco and Sparkling Rosé for the US market. Later on, they expanded the portfolio to include the fine wine vintage collection Case Sugan, which includes a Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Cabernet Franc, and Ramato.
While SYLTBAR may not be the name of the wine producers, rest assured, there is a real, family-owned winery in Italy behind the brand. That is not always the case for branded wines on the US market, and this is something that truly sets SYLTBAR apart. Typically, there is a brand name listed on wine bottles — but not the winery where the wine was actually made. This is because of 97% of wines in the US are mass produced by three large manufacturers. These wines will show a bottle number on the label, but not an actual winery name because there is no winery behind it.
The name SYLTBAR pays homage to Mr and Mrs Blohm’s past and their connection to this island that ultimately brought them together. Independently from one another over 30 years ago, they each
discovered this particular Prosecco from San Simone while on Sylt, an island off the coast of Germany often referred to by Americans as the ‘Nantucket of Germany.’ It is the most exclusive island in Germany, located North Sea coast, very close to the Danish border. This hidden gem is a haven for foodies — there are 2 Michelin-star restaurants — and nature lovers. It’s also known for its pristine, white sanded beaches and luxurious shopping.
The island itself is unique, and so is its shape, much like the Prosecco they were so in love with. So, Mr and Mrs Blohm felt like it was the perfect match. The name SYLTBAR was born, and the island became its logo. After establishing the brand, they also felt that the Prosecco needed a nickname to set it apart from other Proseccos on the market — that is how ‘Mr’ came to be and, for the Sparkling Rosé, the nickname Mrs.
Little did Mr and Mrs Blohm know that their favorite drink had so many benefits. Due to the natural production that San Simone has been using for over 108 years, Mr turned out to be a low carb wine, with significantly lower sugar levels when compared to other brands. Of course, low-sugar wines also mean low calorie, which instantly makes Mr even more appealing. Delicious taste without excess carbs, sugar, and calories? With over 3000 positive reviews, the marketing basically writes itself!
To find these nutritional statistics, Mr and Mrs Blohm turned to the University of Miami Diabetes Research Institute for their professional research and opinion. Professor Dr. Camillo Ricordi, former director of the Institute, compared the glucose levels of 80 different sparkling wines and found that Mr SYLTBAR was much lower. An additional study was done with diabetes patients to check blood sugar levels while consuming this bubbly beverage, and the feedback was largely positive showing stable glucose levels.
Let’s recap the benefits of Mr: 100% naturally produced, organic and Green Project-certified, vegan, no added sulfites, no additives, no chemicals, low carbohydrate, low sugar, low calorie, and low glycemic. This crisp, refreshing drink has only 49 calories and 0.3 grams of sugar per 6 ounce serving, making it the perfect low sugar champagne alternative.
If all of these bullet points aren’t enticing enough, the beautifully and purposely designed bottle is another topic of conversation. San Simone has really thought of everything while producing their wines, right down to its vessel. Pick up a bottle of Mr and you might find yourself thinking it’s quite heavy — and that’s because it is. SYLTBAR bottles are about 60% heavier than the average wine bottle, which protects the natural wine against light and heat that could compromise taste and aroma.
This is mainly due to quality control. Since there are no preservatives in SYLTBAR, precautions must be taken in order to protect the wine from the environment.
The story behind Mr SYLTBAR is about purity, love, and time-honored tradition. Without these things, he simply couldn’t exist.
Mr SYLTBAR you only can found in 20 key states in the US because production is limited. Mr and Mrs Blohm do not want to dilute quality because of quantity. This is one of the reason why you will not find SYLTBAR everywhere, like all the other mass-produced products. You won’t find him on the shelves of
every retail store or on the menus of every restaurant — only the best are reserved for Mr. like Nobu Restaurants.
It’s time to give your tastebuds the party they deserve. Mr SYLTBAR does not need to be reserved for a special occasion; he is welcome any day of the week, any time of the year. Grab a glass (a white wine glass to be exact, trust us), chill Mr to the perfect temperature of 45-49 °F, and join us in cheersing to our Happy Healthy Daily Juice.
