The Secret to Success

Jacob Kirstein, a former SpaceX and NASA Aerospace Engineer, designed Chapie. Jacob had been working on product development since 2014, with little progress. Over the phone in January 2021, Jacob’s former roommate presented a fresh invention idea: a vacuum-insulated flask for lip balm to prevent melting. Later that night, Jacob shared the idea with his girlfriend, who was overjoyed. Jacob 3D printed a mock-up of his innovation and uploaded it on TikTok. The video became viral overnight, and the rest is history. With limited money to fund manufacturing, Jacob started collecting preorders on Shopify on his 25th birthday, March 29th, 2021. As preorders piled up, Jacob sought out a manufacturer capable of producing the world’s tiniest vacuum-insulated thermos, which required the development of novel manufacturing procedures adapted to Chapie’s design. Covid delays, hackers, and manufacturing processes all hampered the production of the initial Chapie presale campaign.

After three failed attempts to mass produce Chapie while running out of time and money, Jacob gave it one more attempt to get the product off the ground. Finally, a valiant effort by an advanced manufacturer offered a patented procedure to make what is now known as Chapie. Following the success of the first presale, Jacob moved from Chapie OG (for standard sized lip balms), to Chapie Plus (for large lip balms and small lipsticks), to Chapie Pro (for huge lipstick, deodorant, and so much more).

Jacob set out to launch the greatest quality lip care products possible at an affordable price after seeing the success of the insulated containers. Chapie Lip Balm and Lip Scrub come into play. Our exclusive lip balm was created for sensitive lips and contains cruelty-free ingredients that nourish and soften lips. The lip balm is ultra-healing and antioxidant-rich, nourishing dry chapped lips while protecting them from UVB rays.

The following are the essential ingredients:

  • Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a common ingredient in lip balm and skincare products due to its potential benefits for the lips and skin. Vitamin E is a natural moisturizer that helps keep the lips hydrated. It prevents dryness, chapping, and flakiness, making your lips feel soft and smooth. Vitamin E has antioxidants properties that can help protect your lips from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. While it doesn’t replace the need for sunscreen, it can offer some additional protection. Vitamin E can aid in the healing and repair of damaged lips. It can reduce inflammation and promote the recovery of chapped or irritated lips. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin E can help fight free radicals and prevent premature aging of the lips, such as the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated or inflamed lips, providing relief from discomfort. Vitamin E can help strengthen the skin barrier on your lips, making them more resilient and less prone to environmental stressors. If you have scars or discoloration on your lips, Vitamin E may help fade these marks over time, contributing to a more even and healthy appearance. Vitamin E is known to support overall skin health, which can translate to healthier and more attractive lips.

  • Aloe Vera Oil

Aloe vera oil can offer several benefits when used in a lip balm formulation. Aloe vera is well-known for its soothing and moisturizing properties, making it a popular ingredient in skincare products, including lip balms.

Aloe vera is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. When applied to the lips, it helps keep them hydrated and prevents dryness, chapping, and flaking. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory and cooling properties, which can help relieve irritation, redness, and discomfort on the lips. It’s particularly beneficial for soothing sunburned or wind-chapped lips. Aloe vera oil contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can support the healing process of damaged or cracked lips. It can help accelerate the recovery of minor wounds and cuts on the lips. Aloe vera oil forms a protective barrier on the lips, which can help shield them from environmental factors like harsh weather, UV rays, and pollution. Aloe vera oil contains vitamins A, C, and E, as well as various enzymes and amino acids that can nourish and revitalize the lips. Aloe vera oil is lightweight and non-greasy, making it comfortable to wear on the lips. It leaves no heavy or sticky residue. Aloe vera oil is generally well-tolerated by most people and is suitable for various skin types, including sensitive skin.

  • Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil can be beneficial ingredient in lip balm for several reasons.

Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, which help to moisturize and hydrate the lips. This can be particularly useful in preventing dry and chapped lips, especially in harsh weather conditions. Sunflower oil is generally well-tolerated by most skin types, making it a suitable option for sensitive or easily irritated lips. It’s less likely to cause allergic reactions or irritation compared to some other oils. Sunflower oil contain antioxidants like vitamin E, which can help protect the delicate skin on your lips from free radicals and environmental damage. This can contribute to healthier and more youthful-looking lips. Sunflower oil has a relatively light texture, which can help make lip balm feel comfortable to wear without leaving a heavy or greasy residue on your lips. This natural oil is easily absorbed by the skin, which means it can penetrate the skin’s layers to deliver its moisturizing and nourishing benefits effectively. Sunflower oil can form a protective barrier on the lips, which help to retain moisture and prevent further moisture loss. This can be particularly helpful in preventing and healing chapped or dry lips. Sunflower oil is a natural, plant-based ingredient, which can be appealing to those looking for eco-friendly and cruelty-free skincare options.
